How we put ears
I had planned an exhibition and sports career for a long time, even before buying a second dog. Therefore, the puppy was selected very carefully and with special predilection. And so the choice was made, the dog was bought, growing smart and handsome, getting stronger, and cropped ears refuse to stand, despite all the efforts and tricks in their production. As soon as I didn’t try to pick them up, I shook them on tampons and tried to put them on the substrate, and glued my ears on spatulas to inspect the throat, nothing helped. And if until six months they stood after winding for at least a couple of hours, then as soon as Till became more powerful and his ears got stronger, even after a three-day walk with horns hung with rags.
How many thoughts and fears about this were in my head, just awful. We went to the veterinarian pedigree and checked ears for creases about three times, probably, we constantly did massage. I even dragged the dog to check the cervical spine, suddenly there are problems in the vertebrae or nerves, especially since in our breed Wobbler's syndrome occurs.
Till's patience must be said simply titanic. He courageously and with understanding endured all the manipulations, although there was very little pleasant in them. So many experiences were also because Gracie’s ears got up pretty quickly, in about a month and a half, and with much less loss of my and her nerve cells. But the difference was that Till, like a large dog, was much heavier, which means his ears were thick and heavy. Plus, the length and shape of the stopper played a big role. Now there is a fashion for long and thin ears at the Doberman, and if in Belarus this is not so common, then in Russia they cut it everywhere and for a long time.
So why am I doing this, I really didn’t really want to do plastic surgery and shorten the long-suffering ears. This is re-anesthesia, but for Dobermans this is not at all desirable. Cores are dangerous after all. But also to ruin the show career of a dog whose father is the world champion, because of such nonsense as not standing ears, would also be stupid. Therefore, it was decided that we would shorten it.
And then an ultrasound of the heart was done, sedatives were drunk, the specialist was called and arrived at home. After several simple manipulations by a skilled veterinarian, the ears stood up as soon as they stitched! Eureka! They were just too heavy. After the operation, the doctor told me that she did everything not under anesthesia, but under sedation, which could not but rejoice, because there is less harm to the body from this.
Healed his ears quickly enough, and without any problems. I removed the stitches at home on my own, but I need to learn sometime. After the operation, they never fell, although not so much was removed along the length. The shape of the ears also turned out beautiful, and the dog looks great. For prevention, we continue to periodically drink glucosamine and do massage. Finally, we can enter the ring and begin our journey to the championship. Exhibitions, wait for us!
